You may have told your University College advisor what your intended major is. This is not the same as declaring your major. When you officially declare your major, your academic records are moved from University College to the college of your major. You are also assigned a new academic advisor. (If you are not ready to declare, but want to change your intended major, email your advisor and they will request an update for you.)
Major Declaration Requirements:
2.0 cumulative App State GPA (or a 2.0 transfer GPA for new students without an App State GPA)
AND
- 30 or more cumulative earned hours
- credit for RC 1000 or an equivalent course
- credit for or current enrollment in UCO 1200 or an equivalent course
OR
- App State's General Education requirements are complete
ALSO, you must:
- select your Gen Ed theme(s) (here's how)
- meet any additional admissions requirements for your major

- Campus Change Interest Form. If you want to change your program delivery mode (e.g., primarily face-to-face to fully online or vice versa) or you would like to see if it is possible to take your classes at our Hickory Campus, DON'T submit the major declaration form. Instead, complete this form and an advisor will contact you via your App State email account. If you want to change to a fully online program, make sure your desired degree is on this list of Appalachian's online programs.
