The online PREP (Pre-Registration Engagement Project) course will teach you how to use App State's course registration system and how to determine which classes to take in your first semester based on your intended major, transfer credits, test scores and more.

and then login using your App State username and password.
Then, click on the blue "Enroll Me" button (---->).
PREP Steps
1. Register for Orientation.
You must be registered for Orientation in order to receive your PIN for class registration.
2. Complete all PREP modules.
PREP (Pre-Registration Engagement Project) is a series of online modules that explains App State's academic requirements and processes. It will teach you:
- how to use our online course registration system
- how to determine what classes to take in your first-semester based on your intended major
- how to understand transfer credit, test scores and more.
When you complete the course AND the acknowledgment at the end, wait 15 minutes and then check your App State email to find your PIN for class registration. You must be registered for Orientation in order to receive your PIN.
NOTE: The PREP course opens on Monday , April 20th at 9 AM for Aspire and Summer 2026 students. Registration will be available to these students once they complete PREP and have registered for Orientation.
The PREP course opens on Monday, April 27th at 9 AM for students starting in Fall 2026. Registration will open on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at 9 AM once they complete PREP and have registered for Orientation.
3. Check App State email for Registration PIN.
Once class registration for new students has begun (see below), your class registration PIN will be sent to your App State email within 15 minutes after completing PREP as long as you have registered for Orientation.
Class Registration Begins:
For incoming Summer students and all incoming Aspire Appalachian students: April 20th at 9:00 AM.
For incoming Fall students: April 30th at 9:00 AM (you will not receive your PIN before this date).
4. Register for classes ASAP.

Students who have registered for Orientation AND completed PREP (including the Acknowledgment at the end) will receive their PIN and can begin class registration in AppalNet Self-Service.

Don't worry, you will have a chance to review and adjust your schedule when you meet with an advisor. However, you should attempt to complete as much of your schedule as possible prior to this meeting.
To be considered a full-time student you must register for at least 12 credit hours. Students are encouraged to take 15-17 credit hours each semester to stay on track for graduation.
5. Meet with an Academic Advisor ASAP.

Within two business days after you complete PREP, you will receive an email invitation with instructions for scheduling your required New Student Advising appointment. While you are waiting to meet with your advisor, go ahead and start registering for classes. The sooner you register, the better chance you will have to get the schedule you want!
New Student Advising appointments are conducted via Zoom and provide you an opportunity to review and adjust your class schedule as needed.
