Just for Parents
A student’s transition to college can sometimes be as challenging for parents as it is for the student. Helping your son or daughter make the transition to a university setting raises a lot of questions, and finding the balance between guiding your student and supporting their independence can also be a challenge.
Your student's Academic Advisor can help. Encourage your student to meet their advisor throughout each semester to ask questions and get sound academic and career advice. Whether your student is a freshmen or transfer student, their Academic Advisor can help them understand university policies and procedures, the General Bulletin, the Core Curriculum, and help them successfully navigate other common stumbling blocks.
Academic Advisors can also help students choose majors and careers and get out of academic trouble (if necessary). Advisors can help students with almost any problem because they are familiar with the resources on campus.
